The Edge Of Glory – Lady Gaga Lyrics
19 May 2011
Album: Born This Way
Genre: Dance-pop, synthpop, ballad
Lyrics by: Lady Gaga, Fernando Garibay, Paul Blair
Released: May, 2011
“The Edge Of Glory” is the latest single of the New Yorker singer Lady Gaga, which was launched on May 09/2011 through the iTunes store.
According to some reports, the lyrics was written by Gaga in collaboration with Fernando Garibay (Mexican music producer, DJ and songwriter) and DJ White Shadow (“Born This Way” album producer, disc jockey and sound engineer based out of Chicago, Illinois).
Gaga wrote the song after her grandfather died last September. In fact, she explained the song was inspired by her grandfather and the impact the event had on her since she spent some time with him in the hospital.
According to the singer, this song is about “your last moment on earth, the moment of truth, the moment before you leave earth.”
“The Edge Of Glory” is also a result of the collaboration of Clarence “The Big Man” Clemons (American musician, actor, and member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band), who was in charge to add saxophone sounds. This track has been classified as a Dance pop song, but actually it has a very evident ballad feeling. In fact, according to Gaga, “it can be played on the piano, but it’s actually set to this giant, huge, techno rock, Springsteen-esque dance beat.”
