Did you think that your feet had been bound
By what gravity brings to the ground?
Did you feel you were tricked
By the future you picked?
Well, come on down

All those rules don’t apply
When you’re high in the sky
So, come on down
Come on down

We’re coming down to the ground
There’s no better place to go
We’ve got snow up on the mountains
We’ve got rivers down below

We’re coming down to the ground
We hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

Did you think you’d escaped from routine
By changing the script and the scene?
Despite all you made of it
You’re always afraid
Of the change

You’ve got a lot on your chest
Well, you can come as my guest
So come on down
Come on down

We’re coming down to the ground
There’s no better place to go
We’ve got snow up on the mountains
We’ve got rivers down below

We’re coming down to the ground
We hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

Like the fish in the ocean
We felt at home in the sea
We learned to live off the good land
Learned to climb up a tree
Then we got up on two legs
But we wanted to fly
When we messed up our homeland
We set sail for the sky

We’re coming down to the ground
There’s no better place to go
We’ve got snow up on the mountains
We’ve got rivers down below

We’re coming down to the ground
We hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

We’re coming down
Coming down to Earth
Like babies at birth
Coming down to Earth
We’re gonna find new priorities
These are extraordinary qualities

We’re coming down to the ground
There’s no better place to go
We’ve got snow up on the mountains
We’ve got rivers down below

We’re coming down to the ground
We hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

We’re coming down to the ground
There’s no better place to go
We’ve got snow up on the mountains
We’ve got rivers down below

We’re coming down to the ground
We hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

We’re gonna find new priorities
These are extraordinary qualities

AMAZING Film, message and Peter Gabriel’s song is the perfect fit of inspiration! Thank you PIXAR!

  2. Eduardo Aguiar Says:

beutiful film…my daughter had tears in her eyes. About Peter music, is not any surprise because since Genesis, his art is more than just thanks for everything.

  3. Cheryl Says:

We listened to it and think it’s “Redefine your priorities”. Then there’s one more line at the end that I think is “To find on earth”. Great song! :)

  4. John C. Says:

Yeah, great song, but are you Guys paying attention or Acting like you used to?
Pay attention… do some small changes in your life, so this and other desperate songs
will make a real difference, it doesnt matter if your daughter had tears in her eyes, if
you keep sending plastic to the oceans, because its comfortable to carry plastic bags
from the supermarket, its not about redefining your priorities either, its MAKING A CHANGE TODAY.
how many more movies/songs/messages do you need?
    thanks

  5. a person Says:

THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVER!!! I HAD TEARS IN MY EYES!!!

  6. Noah B. Says:

The message of the song isn’t to stop polluting, John C. That’s a good thing, but the point is that the earth needs us. So much media is saying we’re destroying the earth, but where would it be without us? “The land will be looked after.” We’re not killing the world, we’re it’s stewards.

  7. mike z Says:

I think both of your comments apply, although before the industrial revoliution, the earth had cycles but not as much as this time. Wall e may have been a good movie, but there’s a message

  8. michael Says:

You guys have all missed the boat, imo. The pollution issue was only minor subject in the entire plot of the movie. Didn’t you notice how the robots were more human than the humans were? LOOK at them…they are so wrapped in technology they don’t even look at each others faces except in the screen in front of them. We are losing what us unique…we are so plugged in and separate from each other. The environmental issue IS important- but what does it matter if we are all just assimilated and lose our individuality.

  9. scyoc Says:

Michael is right, there are many issues in this movie. I was taken with the devolution of the humans as much as the concept of an abandoned planet completed covered in garbage.
Noah is right, the earth needs us now more than ever to WAKE UP. It’s like the line in the movie Excalibur ” You and the Earth are one”. If the earth becomes contaminated then we too will suffer that fate. I think this movie was created in amimation so that even if adults don’t get the message, maybe our children will and actually do something. The earth is our legacy to them, whether is is a garbage covered mess or a beautiful life sustaining planet. Which one do you want to leave behind?

  10. Person Says:

OMG that is such a good song and movie!! I was watching the credits and I heard the song and immediately downloaded it to my iPod!! I give this song a 10 not for only it’s great rythm and sound but for it’s reason!! Some people out there need to listen to this song!! :)

  11. sensan Says:

wall-e is such a lovely n inspirational movie that i cant stop watching it over n over again… i love the movie in every respect whether it be a perfect love story or a true message to the human kind.. n the song down to earth is really amazind

  12. Makensi Says:

This movie has a lot of subtle things people don’t even realize. Yes, it is a cute movie, but look at what the movie is saying; Disney is extremely clever in doing this. It captures the attention of adults and kids alike. It is extremely good, yet still depressing. This robot is the only one left of his kind, and he knows basically nothing else except the life he’s living. He is taken in by the garbage we left behind, which he considers treasures. I loved that, when he picks up the box with the beautiful diamond ring, he just takes the box. The little things in life will change in everything. What people don’t realize is that the smallest piece of anything (an act of kindness, meaness, or just a piece of trash) will change anything and everything.

  13. lisa d Says:

makensi said a lot scyoc michael and noah, said a lot too, the green movement is good we all should know this, we are stewards, we are not slave, or just something to cultivate for a later date, that’s what stood out, we had become the “collected” or worse selected, that was my concern, the issue of clean is always good, to blame man for the global warming is wrong, we have seen better clean ways of doing things now than from 1930-1970 which had the most impact on envryo issues, yet breathing and carbon foot print are to blame for the damage? when we as humanity become the threat and the envyro becomes the protected, i think there must be a change in priorities, from nature back to man, we can not worship nature but honor the individuality of the human life, greed is in the heart of a man who thinks a life has less value than another in order to achieve a dream world where tec and envyro mean more than freedom or the individual. greed-green only one letter off, i wonder which is the real truth.

  14. fan Says:

i think you got it wrong. we shift to nature’s preservation for the good of the humans, for the future generation to enjoy what earth gives. if we continue our ways of living… (polluting, destroying… our homeland…)…, the future generations might be like what the movie wall-e portrays.. people in outer space, obese and deprived of the life they should be living on earth… (reply to lisa d)

  15. Arctic Fox Says:

I fear it is too late.

  16. Malph Says:

I think “lisa d” is an idiot.

  17. Dan Says:

A lot of good ideas here, really a lot of thoughts well sustained, but NO ONE, really NOBODY said anithing about BnL (Buy-n-Large). While i’m in favor of most of the comentaries above, i want to add to the discussion the fact that we consume and consume because we are programmed by the media to do that, and don’t stop to think about it even for 1 sec.
Buy-n-Large exists today, not as one alone entity, but as the combination of several, and it’s principal weapon for domination is to implant in every persons’s mind, the impulse for mass consumption…

of course, yes, I tend to exaggerate a little bit some times…
