The website All Music Guide has said about this album: “a mature, polished and utterly professional set of well-crafted songs”, and they gave to this new Blige’s material four out of five starts. Until last month, Growing Pains has gotten to sell around 1,383,000 copies in United States and United Kingdom only. Currently, its most peak reached is as number thirty-seven, by climbing eight position into Billboard Hot Singles R&B/Hip Hop. At 2008 Grammy Awards, Mary J. Blige won as Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group for “Disrespectful” and Best Gospel Performance for “Never Gonna Break My Faith”.
